  • What’s the likelihood of flooding from the Nottley River? According to NC Flood Maps, there’s a 0.2% chance of flooding. There’s both a Flood Plain and Watershed and you have to build your structure of the home above the Flood Plain.   • What is a septic permit and why is it provided? A septic permit gives you permission from the Cherokee County Environmental Health Department to install a residential septic permit on the property you buy. It essentially tells you that your property has good soil and they you can build on it. Before you start construction, you will also need a building permit.
