Murphy, NC Spring Festival Offers a Feast for Your Senses

If you’re itching to enjoy some balmy spring air, and you’re up for some lively family fun in historic downtown Murphy, NC, the Murphy Spring Festival is just the ticket. Set for Saturday, May 4 from 12 -8 p.m. along Tennessee Street, this popular event is coming back for its second year. The Murphy Business Association is the force behind this multi-faceted celebration, which really does include something for everyone’s taste. Note: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the Murphy Spring Festival’s rain date is Sunday, May 5.

Enjoy an Encore Artist Showcase
This year’s Murphy Spring Festival takes place the day after the May 3 First Friday Art Walk. So, many local and regional artists will showcase their wares at both events, giving visitors two opportunities to view striking works from artists in varied genres. Some artists might set up shop in a nearby business or restaurant, while others will demonstrate their craft to sidewalk-strolling visitors.

Listen to Live Music from Local Musicians
Our region boasts some amazing local musical talent, and several of those musicians and groups will perform on the professional stage during the Festival. You’ll hear Country, Blues, Rock, and Reggae, among others. At 7 p.m., the popular Andrew Chastain Band takes the stage as the headline act.

Sample Some Locally Brewed Craft Beer
While you enjoy a great musical performance (or two), visit the roped-off Beer Garden, where legal-age festivalgoers are invited to try a small-batch brew (or two). These tasty libations come straight from regional (and local) breweries, so drink up!

Ogle the Spruced-up Vehicles at the Car Show
Murphy is a prime car show destination, with visitors traveling for miles around to browse the vintage and not-so-vintage vehicles at several popular venues. On Saturday, May 4, the Murphy Spring Festival’s car show lineup will include nicely restored cars and trucks, and maybe some original-condition vehicles as well.

Savor Tasty Fare from Downtown Restaurants
Strolling through the Festival will help you work up quite an appetite. Fortunately, several downtown Murphy, NC restaurants have stepped up to the plate, and will be ready to serve hungry festival-goers all day long. Whether you enjoy pizza, sandwiches and local favorites, or upscale offerings, you’ll find it within easy walking distance.
